FAQ
Can everyone be hypnotized?
No. Very young children and people with the incapacity to concentrate cannot be hypnotized.
Can I be forced to reveal deep, dark secrets while in hypnosis?
Absolutely not; hypnosis isn't "mind control."
Can hypnotists really make people do the silly things you see on stage shows?
Subjects in hypnosis cannot be forced to do anything that they wouldn't do completely awake and aware.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
It's impossible for someone to be "permanently hypnotized."
I don't think I can be hypnotized. How do I know if I can?
By the time you're an adult, you have experienced hypnosis hundreds of times. Have you ever been driving and were thinking about something else until you suddenly arrived at your destination (or missed your exit)? That is a form of hypnosis. Or have you ever been reading a book or watching a movie and were so engrossed that you didn't hear someone trying to get your attention, maybe even by calling your name? Also hypnosis. When you daydream, that is a form of hypnosis, too.
Can hypnosis cure illness or disease?
Hypnotists don't "treat" subjects, and therefore hypnosis doesn't "cure" anything. Hypnosis can, however, help people manage illness/disease; it can also be effective with pain management for chronic conditions. When the human body is sick or injured, its automatic reaction is to try and heal itself; hypnosis can certainly help with this natural tendency.
Will I remember everything that is said or that happens during hypnosis?
You should; I will never suggest to a subject that she or he will not remember a session.
