Larry McKinney, Certified Master Hypnotist, Certified Hypnotherapist
I first became interested in hypnosis while goofing around with some friends in high school, but I became seriously interested in it when attending a self-hypnosis demonstration in 2002. That event, I can frankly say, changed my life. I recognized the repeated negative patterns that the hypnotist described; of course I recognized them - I had been living them most of my life! From that day, I started moving in the direction of becoming a hypnotist, which I did in 2003, when I received my certification from the National Guild of Hypnotists. I have been seeing clients and teaching courses since then, and have found it very gratifying to witness the changes that hypnosis can help people achieve.
The "mechanics" of hypnosis - the technical aspect - has always fascinated me, but hypnosis can also be used in conjunction with spiritual teachings. The subconscious mind and its power is vast. This spiritual aspect has steadily made its way into my courses and seminars (see Services), even with topics you wouldn't normally consider to be "spiritual," such as weight loss, and results and students' positive feedback has steadily improved since this change.
I am very much a proponent of being kind to yourself. We are, in so many cases, our own worst enemy, and I ask this question in numerous classes and sessions: "Who in your life do you treat worse than yourself?" There is occasionally someone else given as the answer (and I sympathize with this unknown minority!), but in mose cases the answer is, "Nobody." When you have criticized yourself for a long time, it's difficult to suddenly stop doing it. One of the ways to stop this destructive behavior (and it is destructive, make no mistake about that!) is to utilize hypnosis and self-hypnosis. The subconscious mind just follows orders - perfectly and with steadfast inevitability. When you give it new orders, you get new results, because when you look at things differently ... you see different things.
